The Author: D.M. Stoddard, author of the fantasy series Kingdom of Torrence, studied creative writing and Greek mythology at the University of Maryland, University College, and has many years experience as a fantasy role playing game master, creating worlds and adventures for multiple players to enjoy as they worked through his campaigns. He draws upon his outdoor experiences in camping, packing, and archery, and his study of martial arts to describe fantasy scenes and battles. He painted the cover illustrations one his first two books: the sword on the cover of The Legend of Jerrod, which was his debut book, and the dagger on Amanda’s Quest. DM and his son composed a song that the bard, Fernando, sang to the group in camp on their way to the Elvish kingdom of Lithlillia. The instrumental to the song is available on the Kingdom of Torrence website.
DM became a storyteller while telling his growing children whimsical tales of forest creatures at bedtime, but he used to write short stories as a boy and poetry as a younger man. He finds peace in writing and, now that his children are grown, he has turned to creating tales for readers’ enjoyment. His books are available on Amazon, Barns and Noble on-line, and other distribution sources. He is currently serving as the Director Emeritus for High Sierra Writers of Reno.
DM’s favorite fantasy authors include Tolkien, Brooks, Eddings, McCaffrey, and Rowling. His favorite quote about writing comes from his creative writing professor, “Just keep writing.” He is currently working on book three of the Kingdom of Torrence series and is developing several other shorter works.
